SERVIN Sister Francis Xavier CST, died Tuesday, November 29, 1994. Born Manuela (Nellie) Cruz Servin, September 14, 1911 in San Angelo, Texas. Preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Gergoria Perez Servin; her brothers, John, Daniel, Thomas and Sylvester; and her sister, Cruz Servin. She is survived by her brother, Felix and her sisters, Helen Martin, Mary Hernandez, Jessie Rivas, Christina Servin and Rose Servin; and many nieces and nephews. She graduated from Little Flower School in Oklahoma City in 1930. When the family moved to California, she was employed at Point Hueneme Naval Air Station and later at St. John's Hospital, Oxnard. She returned to Oklahoma to enter the Carmelite Sisters of St. Therese in 1952 and made her vows January 23, 1954. Sister Francis Xavier was a gifted and beloved teacher of little children for over 30 years at Villa Teresa 1 Schools in Oklahoma City, Moore and Tulsa, St. Joseph's in Bristow and St. Charles in Oklahoma City. She also worked at St. Ann's Home and Little Flower Parish. She served two years in San Carlos Sija, Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. For the past year, she had been a resident of St. Ann's Nursing Home, where she was lovingly cared for while she continued her ministry of bringing the good news of God's love to all around her. Wake services 7:30 p.m. at Villa Teresa Convent, Thursday, December 1, 1994. Friends may visit at the convent 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Mass of Resurrection 7:00 p.m. Friday at Little Flower Catholic Church, 1125 South Walker. Burial at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Okla. City Community Foundation for the designated funds of Villa Teresa School. Arrangements by Smith and Kernke Funeral Directors.
