ALLEN Sister Joselita, C.S.T., died
suddenly Sunday, December 5, 1993. Born Marie Antoinette Allen, July 14, 1925 in San Jose, Chihuahua, Mexico. She was preceded in death by her father, William and Candelaria de Velasquez. She was one of eleven children, two of whom died in early childhood. Her closest surviving relatives are David Silva Allen, Carlos Silva Allen and their families, Mr. Roman Payan, and her Carmelite Sisters. She entered the Carmelite Sisters of St. Therese July 16, 1954 and professed final vows June 4, 1962. Her ministries between 1954-1972 included teaching experiences in Oklahoma City at Villa Teresa, St. Patricks, Little Flower and St. Teresa's in Harrah. She served at San Carlos Sija in Guatemala for nine years. From the years of 1973-1982, she worked in health care at Doctor's General, St. Anthony's and Children's Medical Center. Her recent work has been in catechetics and pastoral work with Hispanics in the "40-81 Ministerio" (parishes along I-40 and Highway 81). Her cheerful spirit and enthusiasm for God's work will be missed by those she worked with and her Sisters in Carmel at Villa Teresa. The Wake will be held Wednesday evening at Villa Teresa Convent, 1300 Classen Drive at 8:00 p.m. The Mass of Resurrection will be held 5:30 p.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church with interment at Resurrection Cemetery on Friday, 9:00 a.m. "Your divine eyes, partly opened, have so much blood and tears. You open them to show me your forgiveness. " (Sr. Joselita) In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made through the Carmelite Sisters to Colegio Joselita Allen, San Carlos Sija, Guatemala.
