ZAYONC Sister Bernadette, C.S.T., died
January 26, 2003, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born March 7,
1920, in Harrah, Oklahoma, to Francis Stephen and Angela Helen (Czajkowski)
Zayonc. Sr. Bernadette entered religious life on September 23, 1934, and
made her profession of vows on August 25, 1936. Sr. Bernadette earned a
B.S. degree at Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX and a M.T. degree at
University of Central Oklahoma. She taught elementary education from
1934 to 1978 at many different parish schools including Villa Teresa in
OKC, St. Patrick’s in Sand Springs, St. Joseph’s in Union City, Little
Flower in OKC, St. John’s in Yukon, St. Peter and Paul’s in Cushing,
St. Francis in Newkirk, St. Joseph’s in Tulsa, Immaculate Conception in
Tulsa, Holy Family in Tulsa, St. James in OKC, and St. Charles in OKC.
Sr. Bernadette was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Carl
Michael and Raymond Joseph Zayonc. An Evening Prayer Service will be
held at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 29, 2003, at Villa Teresa Convent,
1300 N. Classen Dr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30
p.m., Thursday, January 30, 2003, at St. Teresa of Avila Church, Harrah,
OK, with interment to follow at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Cemetery.
