BYRNES Sister Christina Byrnes C.S.T., died
September 30, 2002, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Sister Christina was
born September 10, 1922, in Moline, Kansas, to Francis and Mary Alice
Kent Byrnes. After graduating from high school, she entered the
Carmelite Sisters of St. Therese, on September 8, 1941, and later
received her Master's in Special Education from California State College
and her Master's in Education from Our Lady of the Lake College, San
Antonio, TX. During her life, she taught at Sacred Heart, Fairfax, OK,
St. Joseph's, Bristow, OK, Sts. Peter and Paul, Cushing, OK, St.
Francis, Newkirk, OK, St. John Nepomuk, Yukon, OK, Villa Teresa, Okla.
City, Sacred Heart Parish, El Reno, OK, Holy Child School, Moore, OK,
and Incarnate Word High School, San Antonio, TX. Sister Christina was
preceded in death by her father and mother; brothers, Joe and Paul, and
sister, Marie. She is survived by one sister, Ruth Hooper. An Evening
Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m., Wed., October 2, 2002, at
Villa Teresa, 1300 Classen Dr. and a Mass of Christian Burial will be
held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, October 3, 2002, at Resurrection Memorial
Cemetery Chapel with interment to follow. SMITH & KERNKE 1401 NW 23rd
